Silverbird Ghana will be showing Mandela (Long Walk to Freedom). Mandela’s Long walk to freedom is a British and South African film directed by Justin Chadwick in 2013.
The script was written by William Nicholson a British screenwriter, playwright and novelist who has been nominated twice for the Oscar. Other novels by William Nicholson include: The Society of Others, The Trial of True Love, The secret Intensity of Everyday Life, Rich and Mad, All the Hopeful Lovers and Motherland. Mandela Long walk to freedom is based on the 1995 book written by anti-apartheid revolutionary "The Long Walk to Freedom" and the former President for South Africa "Nelson Mandela".
The movie is based on the biography of former president Nelson Mandela of exact name. It denotes his early life from coming of age through his education and his 27 years in prison before he became President. It also shows how Mandela worked and rebuild the country's previous segregated society. Idris Elba stars as Nelson Mandela, with Naomie Harris as Winnie Madikkizela-Mandela. And directed by Justin Chadwick.

The producer Anant Singh started working on the project after he interviewed Mandela when he was still imprisoned 20 years ago from the release of Mandela's Long Walk to Freedom. Then with a follow up and an approval to rights to the film adaptation after 16 years by the screenwriter William Nicholson.
Also the Band U2 wrote a song purposely for the film which was named "Ordinary love". The film was first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on the 7th of September 2013. Long walk to freedom was also officially premiered in London on the 5th of December 2013 to the Royal Film Performance to Prince William ,Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and also with Mandela's daughters Zindzi and Zenani. While watching the film, the announcement was made about the passing of Nelson Mandela which made the producer Anant halted the movie and organized a moment of silence before the film continued.
Silverbird Ghana will show the film at the Accra mall and the weija centre which tickets will be available at various points of sale sections.
